Teeth Whitening in Lethbridge

Looking for teeth whitening in West Lethbridge? At Ivory Dental in West Lethbridge, we offer professional whitening to enhance your smile.

Teeth Whitening Services

Our Lethbridge dentists offer two types of whitening, in-office and at-home.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

Our in-office whitening procedures are completed in a single office visit, with whitening results accelerated by a specially formulated light-activated whitening gel.

  • When you arrive for your appointment, we will protect your gums and lips, then we will gently apply a custom whitening gel to the teeth to be whitened.
  • Once the gel is applied, we will use a bright light, calibrated to activate the ingredients in the whitening gel. After a short period, your teeth will be fully whitened.

At-Home Professional Teeth Whitening

At-home teeth whitening kits consist of a custom dental tray designed to comfortably fit over your teeth and a specially formulated whitening solution that will safely and gently remove stains and dullness, leaving you with a whiter and brighter-looking smile.

Your at-home whitening procedure will require several applications, done over a period of time in the comfort of your own home. The number of applications and the strength of the whitening gel will depend on the current colour of your teeth, and on your desired results.

Causes of Teeth Discolouration

Over the course of time, your teeth may become discoloured for a variety of reasons.

Some of these reasons include:

  • Food and Drink. Some of the most common culprits of teeth staining include coffee, tea and red wine. Each of those liquids contains chromogens that cling to the surface of your teeth, causing discoloration.
  • Tobacco Use. If you use tobacco products, the chemicals in tobacco may turn the surface of your teeth into a yellow colour.
  • Age. As you age, the outer layer of your tooth (the enamel) becomes thinner, exposing the inner layer called dentin, which has more of a yellow colour.
  • Trauma. If any of your teeth have experienced trauma due to injury, your tooth may react by laying down more dentin, causing discolouration.
  • Medications. If you take certain antihistamines, antipsychotics or high blood pressure medications, tooth darkening can be a side effect.

Other Teeth Whitening Solutions

Along with in-office and at-home teeth whitening procedures, you can use toothpaste or chewing gums formulated for teeth whitening.
